Sleeping Mats for the Homeless

Therese Bera and Kathryn Irwin are interested in getting a group of people together to crochet sleeping mats out of plastic grocery bags for our brothers and sisters who are homeless. Sounds crazy, doesn’t it? But it’s not!  Watch the video below:

While it’s a little labor--intensive to make the “yarn” out of the plastic bags, the projects work up pretty quickly and only use a very simple single crochet stitch. NO EXPERIENCE NECESSARY! We will also need donations of reasonably clean and hole--free plastic grocery bags.

A box for donations of bags (whole or already cut per the instructions in the video) will be in the narthex. If you are interested in helping out in any way, please contact Therese or Kathryn in person or through the church office @ 732-388-1815.  Read more in the June 2015 issue of the Visitor.
